Overview
The Balance Company™ (herein referred to as TBC) recognizes the importance
of protecting the privacy of information we may collect from you. The purpose
of this Privacy Policy is to advise you as to the information we collect, with
whom this information may be shared, the use and distribution of this information
and your ability to edit, update, correct or delete such information. Finally,
we detail the security procedures that we have implemented to protect your privacy. This
privacy policy details how we handle information we learn about you from your
visit to TBC Websites (corporate or Consultant-based). This policy does not apply
to the practices of companies that TBC does not own or control, or to people
neither employed nor managed by TBC.
How We Use Information
We collect and store information you provide to TBC whether it’s by phone,
in written form, or online on our websites. We use the information that is
collected, including personal information such as your name, e-mail and mailing
addresses, telephone numbers, social security number, credit card numbers and
billing addresses for several purposes, including:
- To process, fulfill and notify you of your order status;
- Responding to your requests;
- Customizing our web services for your use; and
- To provide you the latest information about our company and products.
In addition, when you complete surveys and/or assessments at our websites, we provide the information that you provided in such surveys and assessments as well as your name and email address to TBC Consultants in connection with your interest in our products or the BalanceCareer™ plan.
TBC may use and disclose personal information about Consultants for the following purposes:
- Processing your Consultant Application & Agreement;
- Processing, fulfilling and notifying you of your product order status;
- Creating and providing downline genealogy reports;
- Providing Consultant services such as planning Consultant meetings or administering Consultant benefits;
- To provide you the latest information about our company and products;
- Developing and implementing policies, marketing plans, and strategies;
- Publishing personal information in TBC newsletters, promotional materials and intra-group communications;
- Providing references, and
- Complying with applicable laws and regulatory requirements and assisting with any governmental or police investigation.
TBC reserves the right to send certain communications relating to TBC services, such as service announcements, administrative messages, and the TBC newsletter, that are considered part of your TBC account, without offering you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving them.
Cookies & Web Beacons
Some websites deposit certain bits of information called "cookies" in
a visitor's web browser software. Cookies are sent back only to TBC Websites
that deposited them when a visitor returns to that site. Cookies can tell us
how and when pages in a TBC Website are visited and by how many people. Cookies
are not used to store personal information, such as social security and credit
card numbers. TBC uses cookies:
- To keep track of your shopping cart status;
- To allow you to use all password-protected services in a single session without having to re-enter your password and
- To see which areas on our site are popular and which are not so we can make the appropriate updates.
Children
The Websites are for general audiences and are not designed or targeted at
children. We do not solicit personal information from or market
to children under the age of 18.
Public Forums
TBC makes public forums, such as chat rooms, message boards, and/or news groups
("Public Forums"), available to Consultants. Please exercise appropriate
caution in disclosing personal information in Public Forums since information
disclosed in these areas becomes public information. The privacy provisions
herein shall not apply to any personal information submitted via any of the
Public Forums.
Security
TBC has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and
alteration of the information you provide. When you place an order or give
us personal information, such as name, address, telephone numbers, credit
card or social security number, you are automatically on our secure server.
Our secure server software encrypts the information you input before it is
sent to us to protect your data against unauthorized access.
Links to Other Websites
As a resource to our visitors we provide links to other websites which we believe
are useful and meet our high standards. However, TBC is not responsible for
the contents of such linked websites. In particular, TBC is not responsible
for the privacy notices or practices provided in such linked websites.
Online Surveys and Information Collection
TBC asks you to voluntarily provide demographic information, such as postal
code, age or income level. All responses are kept confidential and used for
internal marketing and statistical purposes only.
Third Parties
TBC is not in the business of selling your personal information to third parties.
We may share such information from time to time with the following third
parties:
- Those employees, directors and managers of TBC and its local and foreign associated/affiliated companies who have a need to access your personal information in carrying out their responsibilities;
- Any agent, contractor, supplier, vendor, or third party who provides administrative, advertising, printing, or other services to TBC or its affiliated companies, including but not limited to distribution centers, external auditors, medical practitioners, trustees, insurance companies, actuaries;
- Member sponsors and upline Business Leaders who may need access to downline Consultant personal information in order to monitor sales activity and provide business development of the TBC Members in their personal sales groups. However, we do not share credit card information or Social Security numbers with any third party without your permission or unless required by law or valid court order;
- Any government agency or other appropriate governmental, police, or regulatory authority in order to meet legal security and regulatory requirements; and
- In the case of information submitted by Consultants, any consultant/agent appointed by TBC or its affiliated companies to plan, provide and/or administer Consultant benefits.
Transfer
The consent you have provided herein to the use of your personal information
by TBC or its affiliates, shall also extend to any person or corporation
to which TBC may transfer its business, provided that such personal information
is used for the same purposes.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
TBC reserves the right to amend or change this privacy policy at any time at
its sole discretion. It is your responsibility to periodically review this
Privacy Policy by accessing the Private Policy link on our home page.
Access to Personal Information
You have the right to request and obtain from TBC the personal information
TBC has on file about you and request a correction of any data that is inaccurate.
You may also request that TBC to inform you of the type of personal information
maintained by TBC. Requests for access to and correction of personal data
or information about TBC’s policies and practices regarding personal
